Imani Lansiquot and andrew Pozzi Happen to Be named in Qatar at a British Group to the World Championships.
Less than a year away, the pressure is mounting on the nation’s top athletes with another opportunity to impress the greatest stage using the Championships beginning on September 27.
Heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, also sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, triple champion from 2018 and IAAF Diamond League runner-up over 200m will be gunning together with the GB group set a goal of seven to eight UK Sport.
In total 44 athletes return to the world point with previously earned selection for London such as world indoor champion Pozzi and Sky Sports Scholar.
“I am thrilled to have been appointed in the group,” the 110m hurdler said.
“I have had a good time and despite a few setbacks I am now training really well and eager to demonstrate my very best form in Doha.”
Sprinter Lansqiuot, who missed out to a spot in the 100m, has fought in recent weeks with a small injury but will get a chance to shine in the relay.
The Londoner is at a group of six with the British runners having won the medal in every one of the four relays at 2017 in London.
Asher-Smith, Kristal Awuah, Daryll Neita, Ashleigh Nelson along with Asha Philip joins lansiquot.
“It is always an honour to represent your state, therefore I’m looking forward to pulling the GB vest,” Lansiquot explained.
“I worked really hard to maintain the best possible shape to compete for one of the 100m areas, but because of my recent injury I came to fitness a couple weeks too late.
“Regardless of this, I want the women all the very best, and I’m looking forward to getting faster and focused for the relay”
Adam Gemili and Zharnel Hughes will double up at the men’s sprint events and European winner Matthew Hudson-Smith will take about the world at the 400m.
Martyn Rooney, who has been named from the seven-strong squad for the men’s 400m relay, will compete at his World Championships.
