Bryony Frost Q&A: Graham Clark talks to the Grade One winning jockey

Graham Clark talks to Grade One-winning jockey Bryony Frost concerning her profession and the upcoming season.
She won the jockeys championship last year, hit the headlines along with Frodon at Cheltenham in March and has emerged as one of the most talked-about young riders in the game, thus listening to Bryony Frosts perspectives on racing and life Generally is fun and informative:
You simply cant represent that sort of sense if you cross the line. You do not understand where the line is, but heads start to disappear and all Ive got is Frodons earsflat back, his mane from my face and all Ive seen is just a blur of green and someplace there is the line and that is all were going to. You cross it and the world just disappears for a second. You do not acknowledge just how courageous hes been and where you are, what race it is is him. It was a proud moment – thats the main feeling that came across.
We stopped in the services on the road home to get a hamburger and a coke and I had a note on such car that stated,we watched it to the telly, that was class, things like that. They also took the time to write a note, although I have not got a clue who they were. You here some stories that are evil. If I see the way I view these men and the reason why Im doing it and can let people in my world a bit, that is mega for me. We live to create memories, that is all that were awaiting.
It is the Gold Cup that is amateur. I recall watching him before using Victoria (Pendleton) believing I would just like to ride him since he is your older chap at like six oclock in the evening – this is similar to his metaphor of man – hed have his whiskey in six, sat at a big armchair and hed just set the world to rights. This was him he only looked the whole way round. That was a mega day and I thought it wouldnt get much better than that.
I would not be here saying that I have won Grade OnesI would not have been set into any type of limelight when it wasnt for Paul and him giving me that the aid together with his owners. They have been like a second family here. My riding has improved endlessly from being beneath the wing of them.
As a result, your job is to improve your horses career, that is what you are employed to do and that is why you love the task, because each time you sit a horse, whether youve got a one-litre engine or a V8, you are attempting to make him the best he can be.
I have always just done . I have never attempted to design myself on anybody or copy anyone. I try to find out from all and anyone – . To any child in life hoping to do anything, you have got to try and surround yourself with people who are extremely good at their jobs. Familiarizing yourself with champions if you want to be near the top.
To come to Sandown (for the previous day of the season) was a significant moment for me, I was on 49 champions – that I actually would have loved to get to 50. We knew we had the title in the bag, that was done so everyone came to say we have a got a fiver on Black Corton and you and that I was just likeOK but he came back on song. He put me back on cloud nine after quite a gloomy five months ahead and gave me my lifes spin. I owe him a good deal and it was mega to acquire the name.
I have always thought its opinions that will prevent you in the end of the day. Theyre not reality, so you dont need to pay attention to them. To me, if you are good enough, youll find the chances. Paul does not offer rides because Im a woman to me he offers rides to me since I do the best I can and carry out my directions on course and try hard. That is the reason why, not because of who I am. I can not alter it, I.
(A journalist) called me up and wanted to do a meeting, and his first question is,girls struggle since theyre not as powerful as guys and also my hackles went up immediately. I said, request that you talk for me and Im going to give a metaphor to you. He was a bit puzzled, but statedall right. I said, youve got a soccer player and a leading jockey, so name me a soccer player, he did, and I said, name me a leading jockey and he saidDicky (Richard) Johnson, because he is our best one. I said OK, they are going to deadlift now, whos going to raise the weight and he said, the player, of course, so I asked why he said, because he is more powerful. I said, were going to put them both on a horse and gallop line for a time, that do you think will be tired at its end? . He said that the soccer player because he doesnt know how to ride a horse and that I asked, why is that, and he ummed and ahhed for a moment and said,it is approach. And I said, well, I simply answered your question and put down the phone on him.
