The Chicago Cubs kicked off the 2018 MLB campaign following a hectic offseason which featured a flurry of free-agent signings, such as Steve Cishek, Brandon Morrow, and pitchers Yu Darvish amid high expectations.
But a season that opened with promise for the Cubs turned into a battle for their postseason lives harms to Darvish, Morrow, and third baseman Kris Bryant. Chicago’s desperate situation was further complicated by late-season injuries to shortstop Addison Russell and outfielder Jason Heyward, and the club seemed to have little left in the tank as they stumbled through a 7-7 stretch run on home turf, surrounded by a 2-1 extra innings Wild Card loss to the Rockies in Wrigley Field to close out this year.

Darvish is reportedly set to make his return before seeing his 2018 year ended Jose Quintana, rejoining Jon Lester, Cole Hamels, Kyle Hendricks, and by elbow surgery in what is arguably the rotation in the Majors, after making eight appearances.
