The Premier League has joined calls for Saudi country satellite operator Arabsat to quit providing a platform for a pirate community which is”abusing” game.
The system, known as beoutQ started streaming sporting events in 2017 and despite efforts by sports the piracy has lasted.
A report by manufacturer protection firm MarkMonitor commissioned by a number of both leagues and confederations countries that a definitive connection was established between Arabsat and the network.
Arabsat is headquartered in Saudi Arabia and was founded in 1976 from the 21 members of the Arab League.
“The report confirms without question that beoutQ’s pirate broadcasts have been transmitted using satellite infrastructure owned and operated by Arabsat,” read a statement released jointly by FIFA, UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Premier League, the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
“We have been disappointed in our attempts to go for an official copyright claim against beoutQ in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, even while we have received reports which beoutQ transmissions are disrupted, we call on Arabsat along with the rest of the satellite providers to discontinue (and moving forward consent to refrain from) providing a stage for piracy, that hurts not only legitimate licensees, fans and players but also the sport which it abuses.
“Cutting off its access to transmission services would be a significant step in the fight to stop beoutQ. We all, individually and collectively, remain dedicated to bringing an end to global sporting piracy.”
The Saudi state and arabsat have been approached to get a reply by the Press Association news agency.
The UK and US governments have spoken out from the surgeries of beoutQ, together with the chairman of this Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) choose committee Damian Collins formerly describing the network’s actions as”straightforward piracy” in May of this year.
Qatar-based beIn SPORTS is the broadcaster. Saudi Arabia and qatar have been engaged in a conflict since 2017.
